Texas State Guard
Professional Military Education (PME)

The Texas State Guard provides an opportunity for the service members to expand their knowledge of military history, protocols and practices as well as to hone leadership skills and prepare themselves for promotion through on-line courses. Courses focus on leadership development and have been designed specifically to address the important current issues encountered by TXSG personnel involved in the Guard’s civil affairs mission. Reading, writing, and research at levels appropriate for the particular course are required. All courses are conducted on line through dialog and exchange of information with the PME instructors. Exams are taken on-line in the presence of a proctor and students who score an average of 95 or above in the courses will be designated as honor graduates.

Service Members have opportunities in the following areas:

  • Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course (E-3 through E-5)
  • Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Course (E-6 through E-9)
  • Basic Officer Course (O-1 through O-2)
  • Advanced Officer Course (O-3 through O-4)
  • Command & Staff College (O-5 through O-6)

An active TXSG email account is required for participation.  To enroll, the prospective student must e-mail the completed enrollment form to PME@txsg.state.tx.us. The form is available on the TXSG website under Outlook Forms or from MAJ Allen. Questions regarding the PME program may be directed to MAJ Allen at the same address.
