Colonel Donald Tryce, winner of the 2009 Springfield Rifle Match High Senior Plaque. TXSG’s own COL Donald R. Tryce was awarded the 2009 Springfield Rifle Match High Senior Plaque during the 2009 CMP National Matches. COL Tryce scored 288-10X in the 200 yard standing competition using a 1903 Springfield rifle. This, combined with other competitions made the TXMF the 2009 Texas Service Rifle Champions.

The Service Rifle Championship was held at Camp Swift with 97 competitors (civilians, military, ROTC). The TXMF also took third place in the Infantry Trophy Match. Competitors fire a Match AR-15 at ranges 200/300/600 yards with positions that include standing/sitting/prone.
